1:12 am - this is all I ask
Please God, let the Red Sox be the last team to come back down 0-3 to win a series. I can't deal with that tomorrow ... I just can't. I can't deal with three straight gut-wrenching Game 7 losses. I really will be in a coma for months if this happens tomorrow. Despite how horrific and listless the B's looked in Games 5 and 6, I have faith.

6:40 pm - what does meme mean anyway?
What is your favorite MLB team?
Only Red Sox. I range from completely indifferent to hatred of all other teams. I don't watch any other team until the playoffs unless they're playing Boston.

What team do you hate the most?
Yankees, Rays getting up there.

Who's uniforms do you like?
Don't care enough

Who's your overall favorite player?
I stopped having favorite players after the age of 12. It's a business and I choose not to get emotionally involved with the players after Nomar. If I HAD to pick someone I like most, probably either Pujols or Ichiro. But I don't go out of my way to watch either.

Second favorite player?
Derek Jeter

Third favorite player?
Gary Sheffield

What player do you hate the most?
Tim McCarver

Who'll play in the World Series?
the Nationals

Cy Young winners?
Halladay and Santana

High or low socks?
I could not possibly care less.

Who's your favorite pitcher?
Frank Sweet Music Viola

Favorite minor league player?
Ryan Kalish

Best regular-season moment as a fan

What do you do when there's no baseball?
Watch the Pats

4:31 pm - hi
I am deep in constitutional law hell. At this time tomorrow, I'll have 2 down with 1 to go. Bring it, law school!

I'm taking a break tomorrow night for Bruins-Whalers. (Yeah, I said it). Fuckin' stoked to finally get to watch the B's and not be thinking about how I should be studying. That'll leave me with 4 full days to study (re: learn for the first time) property.

Who am I kidding? I'll probably have the Celts on mute tonight, too. Pierce is my hero.

2:33 am - we are the champions!
The Gators are made of awesome! I just got in from the celebration. My teams are really going to have to stop winning titles some day ... it's too much :)

I don't deserve all of this awesomeness.

11:25 am - let freedom ring
I'm feeling very patriotic after voting today. Support the troops, bring them home!

Yes we WILL!

... I've been volunteering for this campaign for a year and a half now, and it all culminates in tonight's results. I'm cautiously optimistic and so proud of this country, regardless of what happens.
A change is gonna come.

4:53 pm - For you Bruins fans ...
My birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and I really want to purchase my first hockey jersey. Thoughts on players? I see on the Web site that you have to customize most of them. I sort of wanted to get a traditional 4 jersey, because I have a huge propensity for buying t-shirts/jerseys and watching the player get traded/let go right away.

Anybody have any thoughts on a current player jersey I should customize, if not Orr?

And how about sizes? I see they make them in women's cuts, but I think I want to get a big man jersey and have it be oversized. Call me crazy but I think those girls at hockey games in big jerseys look really cute. I want to be one of them.

Anyhow, open to suggestions ...

12:20 pm - tired of '08 postseason Francoma
Game 1: Matsuzaka
Game 2: Beckett
Game 3: Lester
Game 4: Wakefield
Game 5: Matsuzaka
Game 6: Beckett
Game 7: Lester

Are you shitting me, Terry? It's like our can-do-no-wrong postseason managerial genius has been replaced by Grady Little. First of all, Wakefield over Byrd? Secondly, how in God's name is Jon Lester not going until Game 3? Perhaps you're trying to save him for Game 7. That logic is on par with Grady saving Williamson and Timlin for Game 8 in 2003. There is no Game 7 if you've already lost four games, Terry. With Beckett being a total question mark this postseason, Lester has to go in Game 2. You cannot risk the series going back to Fenway already down 0-2. You just can't. I'm baffled by this move.

In better news, BRUINS TOMORROW!

11:45 pm - an update
Law school's kicking my ass this week. I feel like I hardly have time to breathe. I'm back to eating poorly and drinking too much caffeine, which is killing my stomach and surfacing old GI-related issues. I have a Doe memo due which is kicking my ass, too. Thankfully, I have a great living situation and I'm starting to amass a nice circle of "friends." I use the term friend loosely because I don't see any of them outside of class. But I'm really happy to know Nicole, Chris (sometimes), Jenn, Dave, Zach, David, Dwayne, Greg and a few others. My study group is really phenomenal, and it's almost overwhelming to be surrounded by such brilliant people all the time. David, Greg and Dwayne may be three of the smartest guys I've ever met. Tomorrow night I'll be socializing with law school people OUTSIDE of law school for the first time in ages. Since whenever I last saw Zach (three Saturdays ago?) Nicole is having me over for a Grey's/Office viewing party. Should be really fun.

The Sox clinched, but will probably go three and out with Anaheim. Thus is life. I have a very 2005 vibe with this team, but they could surprise. It's all going to depend on Lowell and Drew being healthy, and Beckett being Beckett-esque (re: unhittable) in Game 1.

Don't want to talk about the Patriots. Go Gators.

I'm listening to preseason hockey and LIFE IS GOOD. Die Montreal, die. There is a kid who sits in front of me in Torts who is from Canada and has a Canadiens background on his cell phone, which he plays with the entire class period. I have never spoken one word to this boy. I have an irrational hatred of him, though. OH WELL.

10:02 am - i hate men
I really do. Perhaps I'll elaborate more later, but as of right now I'm convinced they are just on this earth to fuck with our heads until the day they die and leave us old and widowed.

1:21 am - UF football commences
Demps + Rainey + Tebow + Harvin (when healthy) + B James + Louis Murphy + Riley Cooper + Hernandez + Moody = an offense you absolutely cannot stop.

That is >>>>>>>>>> Knowshon Moreno any day. I'd be worried if i were any other college football team right now.

Ahmad Black was impressive as hell, too, and it looks like Joe has really grown up and matured as a player too. Go Gators

7:00 pm - Law school ...
was not horrible. It wasn't remotely scary. I was prepared, for the most part. Granted it's hard to understand cases from the 1700s any more than superficially. But it seems that my professors believe in a modified Socratic Method, where answers aren't demanded but rather solicited from eager volunteers. So it's really not Socratic at all. It's like regular college, but the reading is more intense (and you actually HAVE to do it, as opposed to undergrad where I rarely opened a text book and often didn't buy them at all). The days are long. I'm on campus 9-4 most days, but luckily my location lets me walk home and be right across the street. Tomorrow and Wednesday should be a little more intense, because I have four classes. On Mondays and and Thursdays I only have three, and Fridays only two.

Oh, and CHIEF Justice Roberts is coming a week from Friday to judge our moot court presentation, which I think is SO cool. (Yes, John Roberts is a conservative shmuck, but he's the chief fucking justice of the USSC).

Initial impressions? I like my Torts teacher, and my Contracts professor. I'm on the fences with Crim Law guy. I think I might know more about criminal law than him ... no joke. And he says "um" too much, like he's uncomfortable with public speaking. Also, I don't like that a few of my teachers are going to incorporate multiple choice into finals. They should be 100% essay. That's how law school works ... lazy fucks just don't want to grade it.

Well I must go do my Torts/Contracts reading for tomorrow! With the early football game on Saturday, it looks as if I won't be sleeping in until Sunday at the earliest. I miss you, sleep.

A Barack Obama-Joe Biden ticket would make me exceedingly happy. I'm also happy because we beat Toronto in Toronto for the first time since 1975 <hyperbole/>

Still missing LeRoi ... my life feels incomplete.

Fay messed up orientation, so we're going cold to class on Monday. That is a major yikes. I'm almost done with first-day assignments. Just have contracts reading left. I really hope I like contracts more than people say I will. I've never been one to care about other peoples' opinions anyway, but I've heard the teacher sucks and the class sucks.

I'm sitting here eating peanut butter M&Ms, about to open a bottle of Syrah, and maybe watch a free online movie at SurfTheChannel. Lame Friday night? Perhaps.

I just found a really kickass version of YEM from 1994 Virginia Beach that features Roi on sax doing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Thank God for AntsMarching.org. We all got in a chatroom last night and mourned together. It was very therapeutic. Still missing you so much, big guy.

Also, consider downloading this: https://www.yousendit.com/download/Q01IYUl0bThwaFR2Wmc9PQ
(It's my upload, there are no viruses)

Listen from about the 4-minute mark on. Beautiful.

11:22 pm - Don't Burn The Day Away
Oh, isn't it strange
How we move our lives for another day?
Like skipping a beat
What if a great wave should wash us all away?
Just thinking out loud
Don't mean to dwell on this dying thing

LeRoi passed away this evening. I did not see it coming. Just a month ago George and I were in a crowd of 40,000 who filmed him a Get Well Message that was sent right to the hospital. He was supposed to be OK. He wasn't supposed to die. Jeff Coffin was supposed to be a temporary replacement. The future is no place to place your better days.

I feel like I've lost a family member. Someone I've spent countless hours of every summer with. Someone who has comforted me with the sweetest musical sounds I've ever heard. The band that got me through high school. The band that gave me my happiest times ever. The band I fell in love with. I'm laying awake bawling my ass off right now for a person I've never met. This is what DMB means to me.

I love you, LeRoi. We'll dig it shallow so you can feel the rain.

I can't believe that we would lie in graves
Wondering if we had spent our living days well
I can't believe that we would lie in graves
Wondering what we might of been

I'm never, ever going to hear this again live. I'm devastated. Just devastated.

"And if I go, before I'm old,
Oh brother of mine, please don't forget me..."

Never, brother. I will never forget you. Thank you for making such a glorious impact on my life.
